Your Motivation for January 14, 2019

Hello again and welcome to another week. It’s Shirley from the Patient Next Door support team.

Oh, how I wish someone had told me this quote when I was in my teens and twenties. Life might have been better for me.

I remember well when I was younger that I would make a mistake or become sincerely disappointed by a curveball in my life and spend months and even years swimming in my own unnecessary soup of self-pity and self-doubt.

Now as I have grown in age and in understanding, I understand that being upset is fine. I am, as the quote says, only human. However, living in the upset for long periods of time solves nothing and only creates the perfect storm for me to live in misery.

If life has taught me anything, it is that after a major disappointment or failure the things to do are to cry it out, get back up, brush myself off and walk on.

But, I also know that I had to be ready to both hear and accept the wise words expressed in the above quote.
