Hello and welcome to Tuesday, December 11. It’s Shirley again bringing you my take on life and living.
Recognize yourself in the picture above?
If you live in the United States you probably do.
The crowds, the cleaning, the rush, rush, rush!
Then comes gathering with the family including children, in-laws and folks you would rather not see ever again but feel obligated to this time of year.
The effect? We all look like the poor Santa in this picture. Worn out, exhausted, kaput.
Perhaps this time of year is when we need to spend the most time taking care of ourselves. Oh, sure, we need to eat right and get good exercise but there is another aspect we all too often forget, our emotions.
It’s easy to become overwhelmed by it all and feel guilty because we aren’t jolly and all HO-HO-HO.
There is nothing wrong with saying, “ENOUGH!” and going offline for awhile. Turning off the television, computer, iPad, and smartphone might just be the answer to keep you going. Silence is a wonderful gift during the holiday season, I would recommend it for everyone.
I’m not a professional, I’m just a little advice from someone who cares about you.
There is no need to go to India or anywhere else to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden or even your bathtub. – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
